Little person recently received his fab ‘First Wonder Box’, and as we loved it so much, I had to write a review!
Both kids (3 year old loves to join in when and where she can) were overwhelmed with the contents, and there were definitely lots of shrieks of happiness!
The theme of the box we have received is rainforests, which is perfect as little person has recently been focusing on rainforests as part of his research on endangered animals.
‘First wonder box’ - ‘the perfect mix of learning and fun, First wonder boxes are a great way to introduce 4-8 year old children to the world around them’. These well thought out and excellently designed boxes are created by the clever team behind First news, so undoubtedly I knew it would be a great box!
What’s inside?
The kids enjoyed opening up the box, and eagerly awaited to get started. We had a look through the huge list of activities, and first up was, getting Mr. Frog to his lily pad by flinging him (it’s Mr, kids are 100% sure!). It was great to find a toy (frog) to play with, and a fun game working on hand eye coordination. I won’t lie, I played too, and we giggled for hours about it!
The second activity the kids chose was designing their rainbow snake. It was a delightful experience, solely because 3 year old never partakes in arts or crafts with 7 year old (unless she’s taking his work apart!). I was truly surprised, but it was a fun concept, with a lovely long snake to decorate, lots and lots of coloured tissue paper, glue and crayons to use....who wouldn’t want to be part of that?! I’ve quite possibly said this a few hundred times now, but the best thing about subscription boxes like ‘First Wonder box’ is the fact that I didn’t even need to look for our glue! Everything we needed was there, it makes the task so much easier, and means we can get on with it, without waiting for me to order the supplies!! We’ve used the ribbon provided, and 3 year old has taken the snake for a walk (yep, the ribbon was there to hang the snake!)
Little person has absolutely loved the activity book. It is full of facts, activities such as dot to dot, wonder box challenge, colouring, stickers and so much more. The facts have kept little person busy and he’s enjoyed learning so much about the rainforest. He’s made sure we know it takes 10 minutes for a raindrop to fall from the canopy to the floor and was excited to see a capybara in the activity book (after seeing some at the safari park). There’s also a splendid certificate at the end of the activity book.
It’s also refreshing to see collectible cards in the ‘First Wonder box’. My son thoroughly enjoys taking part in any type of ‘collecting’ and this is fantastic for him, as it means with each box he will continue to collect two cards at a time!
....and we think....
‘First wonder box’ has been a huge hit in this house. I honestly didn’t expect both kids to have so much fun with their first box! I was able to appreciate how well thought out each activity is, especially when 3 year old joined in and had so much fun! It takes a special skill to entice children from such a wide range of ages, and I can say, hand on heart, ‘First Wonder box’ did it! With the rainy weather we currently have, it has been a saviour! With a range of activities exploring creativity, geography, science, literacy, maths and more, we’ve all enjoyed each and every activity!
Subscription is easy, you can pause and cancel at any time, and, the best bit, the wonderful people at ‘First Wonder box’ offer a fab home ed discount. There is also a huge 50% off first box! Take a look at the website and Instagram (linked below) to find out more!
