HelloBeeBox

Recently I discovered a lovely box, full of wonderful arts and crafts activities for children. We chose the transport themed box, as little person enjoys anything transport related and 3 year happily joins in.

HelloBeeBox are 'beautiful craft boxes to keep little hands busy'. Our box certainly kept the kids busy!

What's included

HelloBeeBox have a huge selection to choose from, and after having a think about it, we decided the transport theme box was the one for us.

Children love opening their packages, and I love how beautifully it was wrapped for the kids to unwrap (a real surprise).

The transport themed box came with 4 exciting activities:

  • car hanging decoration
  • Paint your own magnets
  • Make your own car model
  • Sew your own sailing boat
Our adventure began with the activity involving painting your own magnets. The children happily shared out the magnets, little person decorating the ship and younger sibling took charge of the aeroplane. Everything needed to paint these beautiful handmade plaster magnets was included. Both children thoroughly enjoyed the vibrant colour paints provided, and they've loved their masterpieces sitting proudly on the fridge door.

The second activity we undertook (I say we, but it was little person who did this on his own) was the 'make your own car model'. I loved how the car you decorate and design is made out of wood, it's great to see use of materials that won't clog up the planet further! It was a wonderful arts activity, involving not only painting and designing but also placing the wheels and buttons correctly enabling the car to stand. The task itself wasn't overly complicated, meaning little person didn't have to ask for much help, and that is great. It's lovely to see children celebrate their achievements. The threading of pipe cleaners was a nice coordination task too!

I won't lie, I think I was far more excited about 'Sew your own sailing boat' than the kids. I couldn't wait for little person to finally try his hands at a spot of sewing! The felt boat pieces come with small cut out holes, helping guide the child with where to sew along, and of course for safety reasons the needle provided is plastic (so would't flare too well if no holes). I was truly impressed how well little person put the boat together, and only needed a little help with stuffing it! There are so many items provided to decorate the boat, and I'm sure all children will love this activity as much as mine. His completed masterpiece sits proudly on his pillow!

The last activity provided in the box was 'Car hanging decoration', and this is one little person saved for last. Once again, it is wonderful to see the car is a lovely wooden car (we are trying to cut down plastic). Alongside the car (with already attached hanging string), you have black buttons to attach for wheels, glitter, PVA glue, paints and much more. Both children have once again been able to happily decorate the car, and have had tremendous amounts of fun doing so.

As well as all the necessary pieces for each task, lot's of extra stickers and sequins were included.
The instructions were very easy to follow, and 7 year old had zero issues reading and comprehending these. As so many other pieces have been added, children are free to decorate and create how they want, or can simply follow the instructions.

What we think

Little person has thoroughly enjoyed each and every task, and it has been wonderful that most tasks have enabled 3 year old to join in, the activities haven't been complicated so 3 year old hasn't had to sit on the bench.

I've been very impressed with the quality of products as well as the overall packaging. I'm also elated at noting the wooden pieces included, as we have as a family made a conscious effort to reduce plastic. The boxes are most certainly beautiful craft boxes, and with handmade items and wooden items it makes the boxes feel so much more exquisite!

I would highly recommend taking a look at the available boxes and trying one out! Click here for more info.

Yipee adventure box - bug hunting theme

Yippee adventure box - bug hunting theme box  We  received  the marvellous Yippee  adventure box to trial, and after having enjoyed the  activities  with both 7 and 3 year old,  I  felt a review was worthwhile.  Yippee boxes are  designed  to encourage science,  technology, engineering, art and maths (STEAM), and 'To  facilitate fun and special family  experiences.' Upon opening the 'Bug box' both kids were  overwhelmed   with  the contents and eagerly dived in, so off we were, on our yippee  adventure! What's in the box? The bug box arrived with two categories of activities, 'Bug homes' and 'Go on a bug adventure'.  Bug homes Bug homes activities  were all about that, making, creating and designing homes for  little  creatures. The  first  activity little person dived into was, making his  spider web and spider. The activities can be easily carried out by children, except using the scissors..

Fusha House arabic

I was kindly offered the opportunity to complete a free session using FushaHouse arabic. Arabic has been a language that I've always wanted to learn, and it's also a language I've been passionate about. As little person has taken to writing and reading in English, Arabic was the second language I wanted him to learn. When learning a language, it is important to find resources that are easy to use, especially for younger learners. Over time I have tried so many books, apps and websites, but if the resource isn't exciting or encapsulating, young leaners loose interest very quickly. There is nothing worse than spending so much money and zero use. Nevertheless, I believe we have found a resource that ticks all the boxes. FushaHouse offers interactive learning, it is also child user friendly and the pace enables children to feel at ease, without feeling overwhelmed very quickly into the process. A lot of language resources seem to very quickly move on from basics to

Endangered animals activity pack

We recently received this wonderful fact filled pack from Archiboldclutterbuck (to read more about Archiboldclutterbuck  resources click here). Contents and what we think The pack is made up of an activity booklet and a poster. The poster is a great visual tool; with in depth (but not overbearing-too much to read) information about 6 critically endangered animals across the globe. Each animal is listed with a fact file (for instance type of animal, habitat etc), and reason as to why they are critically endangered. For each animal listed there is a beautiful photograph; I do believe having photography in such posters and texts is important , as it really does bring the whole concept and idea to 'life'. We love the poster as it's a great size, vibrant and easy to understand, with all the vital information but without too much to read, making it a perfect poster!  The activity pack is what you would ideally expect when teaching endangered animals. Learning fo
